When did you first setup The Mire?

I started The Mire in May 2009

You write about an array of topics such as Sports, Entertainment and Current Events, is there any set one you like to write about the most?

Not really. I write mostly about politics and current affair because they have kept producing major stories in Ireland in recent years.

You came up with a fantastic Twitter account about the IMF Bailout in Ireland, did you think it would lead to you releasing your own book?  And how did that come about?

I didn’t think of it as a book. I had an idea that it could be a radio play or animation. A few days after I started the account Y Books contacted me about doing a book.

Following on from the success of your book ‘ The Eight-Five Billion Euro Man’ you released ‘Ireland in the Bailout Years’ Did you find it hard to write this one after the success of your previous book?

No, as it is a collection of the best Mire stories between 2009 and 2013.

This year continued to be a great one for you, and you were nominated for the Blog Awards how did this make you feel?

It’s always nice to be nominated, shortlisted or a finalist. Would be nice to win one too I imagine.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of starting up a blog, or hoping to publish a book?

Don’t listen to me.

Are you on Twitter?

Yes @themire.net

Are you on Facebook?

Yes. Facebook.com/themire.net

Do you have any questions for us?

Eh… have you any money? We get this a lot, and have no money. Do people think we are rich?

Thank you to Donal for today’s interview, and you can follow Donal on Facebook, Twitter and of course on The Mire.
