STANDUP SHOWDOWN 2013

You’re on stage, all alone, with a microphone. There are a hundred or so strangers in the room and you’ve got two minutes to make them laugh. Can you do it?

Sixteen of Ireland’s bravest comedians will go head to head, in a comedic war of wits until there’s only one left standing. This glorious victor will walk away with the spoils of war – bragging rights and a guest spot on a show at this years Bulmers Galway Comedy Festival.

Here’s the plan of battle. On Saturday 28th September at 8pm sixteen comics will assemble in the Roisin Dubh. Danny Dowling will host the evening and do his darnedest to whip the audience into a froth of unimaginable glee. Each comedian gets just two minutes to impress the audience, then half are immediately eliminated by audience vote. Eight lucky survivors then have three minutes each before again being reduced by half to only four – and so on until the cut throat final round.

Our two surviving warriors of wit have five minutes each to impress. The loser slinks off into the night while the winner sobs ‘You love me, you really, really love me.’ in a glorious pastiche of some idiot at the Oscars years ago.
